Starting at the end of this month, you'll have the rare opportunity to view watercolors, drawings and monotypes by the great American artist Hughie Lee-Smith at the ValleyArts Firehouse Gallery in Orange, New Jersey,
The show, titled Witness, includes 28 works by the artist spanning 60 years--many of which have never before been exhibited publicly. All works come from the Estate of Lee-Smith, whose art reflected the challenges and complexities he found in urban society.
Nigel Freeman, Swann Galleries' African-American Fine Art Specialist, curated the show, which will be on view from January 29 to March 8. Visit www.hleesmith.com for more information.
