Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Romare Bearden-- widely recognized as one of the most creative and original visual artists of the twentieth century. In our February 17th sale, Swann Galleries marked his centennial year. On October 6th Swann will feature Bearden's Train Whistle Blues in the African-American Fine Art sale, a lot valued at $20,000 to $30,000.
