Last night, Swann welcomed Robert H. Getscher, Whistler scholar and the author of The Stamp of Whistler. His lecture covered the trajectory of Whistler's career, while discussing particular prints and impressions in today's auction, Whistler and His Influence. He called the sale's impression of Nocturne one of the best impressions of the etching he had ever seen. Indeed, the print broke the previous auction record for the print, selling for $282,000.
