According to today's New York Times, the Brooklyn Museum has officially launched its fund "focusing on the work of African-American artists from the mid-19th century to 1945." Introductory events for the purchase fund took place last February at Swann, when they co-hosted a lecture with Dr. Leslie King-Hammond about the artist, Hughie Lee-Smith.
