Nicholas Lowry Named a Trustee of the Smithsonian Archives of American Art

We are thrilled to announce that Swann President Nicholas Lowry has been elected a trustee of the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art board. The board’s membership, which comprises nearly 40 prominent members of the American art community, guide the Archives in its mission to further appreciation, enjoyment and understanding of art in America.

Nicholas was selected as a trustee because of his demonstrated dedication to American Art. In addition to his role as president of Swann Galleries, Nicholas regularly appraises on the PBS television series Antiques Roadshow and lectures and writes extensively about poster design and vintage posters.

The Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art aims to show the extraordinary human stories behind America’s most significant art and artists by collecting and preserving the papers and primary records of the visual arts in America. For more information visit the Archives Web site.
